Are you a Boxing fan and are thinking whether to watch Hajime No Ippo or not? You will find all your answers right here!

Hajime No Ippo is a great anime series to watch. The animation is a little old school but the characters, story-line and every fight are pretty interesting and exciting. It is worth watching anime and good enough to add to your watching list.

Introduction-

At first glimpse Hajime no Ippo may seem like an old manga series. May be due to the type of animation it has, the way of the drawing used in the manga. But like it’s said don’t judge the book by its cover. I am an Otaku I watch anime all the time. I search for anime worth viewing, I saw this anime recommended from more than one source. So I started watching it. And I didn’t regret doing so.

Hajime No Ippo

Overview-

This story of Hajime no Ippo is based around the guy named Makunouchi Ippo, who is a high school boy with no friends. He is mostly busy after the school helping his mother loading and unloading the ship which her mother uses to make a living of the family as the father of Makunouchi Ippo has passed away. He tries his best to help his mother sometimes he has to clean the boat at morning 4.30. So in this process, he becomes a weirdo in the class with no friends.

This is the reason why he always gets bullied by the class gang members after school. One time while going home he was again bullied by the same gang, but at that time a middle-weight boxing champion was jogging and passing by he saw the gang bulling Makunouchi Ippo. He saves him and takes injured Makunouchi to his gym for the treatment. After he wakes up he cheers him and tells him to take the frustration out on the sandbag.

At that time he sees the skill he has to become a boxer. He convinces him to join the boxing gym. Taking this path he is unsure of his destination, of where he will reach in this career.

Why you should watch Hajime no Ippo?

It’s all about action-

Hajime no Ippo contains a bunch of thrilling fight though this anime is not all boxers fighting like same, it specifies each and every boxer with a unique style. The thrill and the excitement before every match are above the expectations. This Anime also contains a fair amount of funny moments and gags.

Training Motivation-

If you like to watch your characters train hard this might be a good fit for you. In Hajime no Ippo he trains each and every time when he gets a new opponent to fight in the tournament. It will definitely motivate you to train your body like the athletes (You might know this feeling if you are a Dragon Ball z fan).

Many Things to learn-

Hajime no Ippo anime specifies each and every boxer with a unique style of boxing their unique angle of punching, the power, the use of the counters, etc. You will learn about rules and regulations of the boxing matches, the selection process, the type of categories, information about different punches, and all kind of boxing-related stuff. If you haven’t seen boxing matches before this is a good pick for you.

Pros and Cons- Hajime no Ippo

Pros-

Hajime no Ippo is a great starter anime for new people starting their anime journey. The Anime is quite relatable to our world and has no fiction and fantasy content. It has only 2 filler episodes (episode no 31 and 52). It has a low no of episodes and doesn’t require a longer commitment. The character development is great and the plot and storyline are engaging.

Cons-

Hajime no Ippo’s animation might feel odd to most of the viewers. It has a vintage look to it although it really matches the fighting scenes brilliantly. The second thing is you have to watch this anime in one go. You can’t watch other anime with this or you might lose interest in between. It happened to me and I lost track of it.
